Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg died September 18, 2020 and her wisdom is sorely missed in the present SCOTUS. Justice Ginsburg was a pioneer in gender equality, women’s rights, and civil rights. Her career spanned from being a litigator before the Supreme Court and later serving twenty-seven (27) years on the Supreme Court. Her brilliance was often demonstrated in her dissenting opinions. In Shelby County Alabama v. Holder, Attorney General she stated “throwing out preclearance when it has worked and is continuing to work to stop discriminatory changes is like throwing away your umbrella in a rainstorm because you are not getting wet.” That is just one of the opinions that earned her the name of Notorious R.B.G. At the end of her life, she became pop culture icon! Children will continue to read ‘I Dissent’ for decades to come. A 5’0 legal giant-she is already missed. RIP
